Back on the 6 Train Line!

It’s funny how no matter where you go in life, at some point you return to your roots. I grew up on the 6 train line, I lived in Parkchester 17 years of my life, I grew up here. I use to know the 6 train line, like the back of my hand. Use to visit such spots as 3rd Avenue, Hunt Point, 149st (where I went to school), Pelham Bay (hahah I use to ride the train back and forth between Pelham Bay and Parkchester on days I felt like cutting school lol), Westchester Square. I grew up on this line, then my family move over by Allerton and it was the 2/5 line for me.

It has been 7 years since I wrote the 6 train line again. After I move out of my parent house, and live on my own I was still on the 2/5 line, with my closest stop being 174th Street, then when I moved in with my girl, it was back to Allerton. So 7 years since being on the 6 train and I have mixed reviews about it.

On the one hand I seem to get to work a lot faster. I can get to the platform around 8am,  and get to work at like 8:37am. Back on the ole 2/5 line, getting to the platform around 8-8:15am would get me to work about 9-9:15. I also like the fact that when I come home from work, I don’t have to wait for a certain train. Before I had to wait for the 5 train so it would go express to 180th and then switch to the 2. Now when I come down the stairs I can just hop on any express train since I have to change over to the 6 at 125th anyway. Then it is a hop, skip, and a jump to home if I get on a Diamond 6 train instead of a circle one (Diamond goes express, makes 3 stops 3rd Ave, Hunts point, then mind). My commute has gotten much quicker.

On the other hand, I have lost my seat in the morning.  The Parkchester station is PACKED in the morning. Where before I had a 50/50 chance of getting a seat in the morning, on the 6 train, that has dropped to a 10/90 chance. And I did love to sit in the morning. But hey at least the ride is quicker.

So I’m back to my roots, already run into a couple people I haven’t see in awhile, sheesh, I feel older with them looking all grown and what not lol.
